Buying a new home is an exciting and scary experience. You are excited to be buying a new home, but you are also afraid of the potential problems you may miss during your viewing. The plumbing system is a common concern of homebuyers. Few people are experts in plumbing systems, but there are some things that you can look for. Here is a plumbing checklist to help you with your home buying journey:

• Water heater: Check the age of the water heater. If it is over 10 years old, consider replacing it. Be sure to look for leaks and corrosion around the unit as well.

• Shower Pressure: The pressure depends on the shower head used, but there should be a constant flow of water.

• Water Pressure: Turn on all the faucets in the house. Your water pressure should remain high and not dip very much.

• Drain Lines: Drain lines don't typically corrode. Be safe and look down the drains for corrosion.

• Water Lines: Check the water lines under the sinks or in the ceiling of the basement. Look for leaks, rust, and water discoloration.

• Toilets: Check around the base of the toilet to make sure the wax ring is not cracked, there is no damage, and no leaks.
